Supporting Young Lives

with Youngcare.

Raising funds to assist young people in Australia with high care needs.

Youngcare secured the financial support of Brighton Homes for a three-year partnership and were presented with a $20,000 cheque at Brighton’s Big BBQ in May 2019 to commence the beginning of a very important relationship in assisting young people in Australia with high care needs.

Youngcare’s Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Ryan attended Brighton’s Big BBQ on Saturday 18th May 2019 to present a speech and personally thank Brighton Homes for their support. Mr Ryan said the partnership with Brighton Homes will help YoungCare raise vital funds and awareness for the 12,000 young Australians who are currently living in accommodation unsuitable for their age or type of care. “We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Brighton Homes to raise funds to help stop young people with high care needs from being left behind in unsuitable and unacceptable accommodation, like aged care,” Mr Ryan said.

SIMPSON DESERT CHALLENGE 2021

In May 2021, Brighton Home’s CEO Brad Collins participated in the Simpson Desert Challenge in support of Youngcare. Over nine days, Brad trekked more than 250km across the gruelling Simpson Desert to raise much-needed funds and awareness for young people with high care needs.

This trek was a daily mental and physical challenge for Brad, but it is one that had a profound impact on the lives of young people with high care needs and their loved ones. The completely isolated environment provided a striking reflection of the challenges that these young people face on a daily basis. Funds raised are helping Youngcare to:

  • Build more relevant and age-appropriate housing in Australia
  • Provide information and support via our Youngcare Connect service
  • Provide grants to young people with high care needs who are at risk of entering aged care to keep them at home, or transition them from aged care back into their community
  • Undertake world-first research in order to assist young people with high care needs

Brighton would like to thank everyone who has supported and helped spread awareness, especially their major sponsors Stoddart Group, BlueScope Steel, CarpetCall, Network Steel, Reece, Fisher & Paykel, Lovelight, ActronAir, Winning Commercial, Enigma, Stairmaster & Supaloc. Brad raised a total of $243,500 with $120,000 of that donated by the MJH Group.
